Cervical Smears

We have several registered smear takers at the clinic and are active participants in the cervical screening program.

A cervical screening test is a free test to check the health of your cervix. The cervix is the opening to your womb from your vagina. It’s not a test for cancer, it’s a test to see if you are at risk of developing cancer

Regular cervical screening can save lives. It can find:

  • Human papillomavirus (HPV) before it causes abnormal cells in the cervix
  • abnormal cell changes before symptoms develop
  • abnormal cell changes when they are easier to treat

HPV is the main cause of cervical cancer.

Finding HPV and abnormal cells early is the best way to prevent cervical cancer developing.

You are welcome to attend for your smear even you are not a current registered patient of The Ashe Street Clinic.
