Nurse Grainne Coleman

Gráinne Coleman is a Nurse and Midwife Prescriber. Having completed her honours degree at Trinity College Dublin and following her internship at St. James’s Hospital, Gráinne worked in orthopaedic surgery at Blackrock Clinic. Becoming a midwife was always part of her plan so she undertook a H. Dip in Midwifery in Cork University Maternity Hospital.

Following this she returned to her hometown of Dublin and worked in the Neonatal Unit of The Coombe Women and Infants hospital gaining experience in caring for sick and premature babies. Gráinne then made the move to Kerry and started working in The Ashe Street Clinic in 2019. Since has subsequently qualified as a Nurse/Midwife Prescriber from The Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, allowing her to prescribe medicine to her patients which is extremely beneficial in a busy GP surgery.

She is also fully competent in smear taking, childhood vaccinations, wound dressings and health checks but her real passion is for newborn babies and assisting new mothers to establish breastfeeding. Grainne has completed studies in Travel Health and Vaccination and she plays a key role in our Travel Medicine team.

Her hobbies include music as she plays flute and piano and she is also an amateur florist and milliner.
